Welcome to WikiProject Louisville's Derby 150 article development and backlog drive to celebrate the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby! This drive will take place during the period of the Kentucky Derby Festival, April 20 – May 5, 2024 US Eastern Daylight Time (EDT; UTC−04:00). The Derby itself is on May 4.
The purpose of this drive is simple: Improve a corner of the Wikipedia related to and timed for this special rare anniversary, as a part of improving the whole encyclopedia, while having a festive international Derby party! Mint julep, anyone?
We will work on articles included in both WikiProject Louisville and WikiProject Kentucky, in addition to articles in the orbit of the Kentucky Derby (which are usually but not always included in the projects).
Please ask any question or have any discussions about this drive on the project's regular talk page. This drive could also use some technical assistance, so please also raise your hand if interested in helping that way.
Goal
[edit]The goal of this drive is to complete 1,000 or more edits while accomplishing the following:
- Creating needed Derby-related articles (list being generated)
- Expanding/improving existing Derby-related articles as much as possible, moving toward higher assessment grades
- Resolving issues and requests in WP Louisville and WP Kentucky to help reduce their respective backlogs
Rules
[edit]- This is not a contest. All edits to articles included in the goal will be considered equal.
- Edits must be true improvements; i.e., edits that simply remove spaces without demonstrating a positive benefit to the article's layout will not be counted.
- Participants who perform at least one qualifying edit will receive either the Louisville or Kentucky barnstars (whichever is most applicable), which will contain a message thanking you for participation in the drive.
- All edits without
[[WP:DERBY150]]
in the edit summary will not be counted toward our goal or the receiving of a barnstar.- If the editor forgets to place this link in the summary, they may add it retroactively using a dummy edit.
- Problematic behaviors are grounds toward administrative responses such as blocks. Examples are:
- Making a large number of cosmetic or unusually simple edits – they will likely be seen as disruptive by other editors
- Removal of issue tags without satisfying the concern expressed on the tags
- Adding fake references or content
- Being disruptive by being uncivil, wikilawyering, etc.
Instructions
[edit]Remember to tag your edit summary with [[WP:DERBY150]] , both to advertise the event and tally the points later using Edit Summary Search. |
- Find an article that you would like to work on under Eligible articles below.
- Edit the article to address a tagged issue, fulfill a request, or otherwise improve it, or create a needed one (#1).
- If you have fully addressed a tagged issue, be sure to remove the tag.
- Before saving your change, add an edit summary including:
[[WP:DERBY150]]
- After saving your change, if you had fulfilled a request (like a photo or to do item), be sure to remove the request on the article's talk page (in to do lists, striking through the item with
<s>...</s>
is preferred).
